The cycle ride would be much more expensive to put on if it were not for the generous support of local businesses and organisations. There are links to our main sponsors web sites on the home page, but there are many others who have provided services and backup:
-
The water at the check points has been provided by Iceni and the cups by Heath Lodge Vets.
-
The marshals at every junction on the route are mostly local Rotarians, but we also have mobile marshals on motorbikes. We must also thank the local police who provide traffic management at the busy junctions.
-
You might have got your bike checked out before you left by Harpenden Cycles who have provided service facilities at the start.
-
St John Ambulance provide emergency treatment in the event of an injury.
-
All these en route facilities have been coordinated by Raynet, an organisation of radio amateurs who can talk directly to the police, ambulance and all the other emergency services to give a very swift response. They also answer the hotline during the event. You might have seen their base station with its huge aerial near the start finish line.
-
Samantha Weekes of Griffin Therapies has been there at the end to ease those aching muscles with a free relaxing massage.
-
The start/finish line structure has been provided courtesy of Hire One. The tea and bacon butties at the finish are provided by the Scouts and icecreams come from Chris Noviello.
-
Finally we have to say a big thank you to Matt Adams, editor of the Herts Advertiser, and to David Broadhead and his staff at Oaklands College without whose support the event would not happen.
