The Course

The 10, 20, 30 and 40 mile rides all follow scenic routes around mid-Hertfordshire. Look out for the SACCR signs. Marshals will direct you at most junctions. There may be traffic controls in place to aid riders cross busy junctions. Please obey any traffic lights, stop/go boards or police officers directing the traffic.

Although the organisers check the routes before the event, you should always be aware of road conditions, as pot-holes, mud and loose gravel may still be present in places.

Cyclists should ride in single file. Remember that you share the route with other road users.

Don’t forget to get your route card stamped at each of the checkpoints on your chosen route!

Water is available at all checkpoints. Toilets and refreshments are available at some checkpoints. However, we recommend that you carry a drink and light snacks.

If you get into difficulty you should call the Ride Control Centre (0300 385 2260) or ask another cyclist to inform the nearest marshal, and wait for assistance. Dial 999 first in case of serious accident or emergency.

The Finish

The event finishes back at Oaklands College, where entertainment and refreshments (e.g. burgers, sausages, bacon butties, drinks and ice creams) will be available.

A certificate and medal will be awarded to every cyclist who completes the ride.

The routes will be closed by 2.30pm. Please ensure that you are able to complete your chosen route by this time.

The objective of the event is to raise money for the charitable trusts of the three Rotary clubs of St Albans. Don’t forget to return your sponsorship form and money by 19th June 2020.
